The aims of Pre-School
At Rupert’s Under 5’s Pre-School the staff and committee aim to build on your child’s existing skills, interests and play activities, in order to help them learn and develop.
We encourage free play in a safe and secure environment with adult led activities to help promote the Early Years Foundation Stage.
The main aims are:
- To give equal opportunities to all children and their families.
- To encourage learning, independence and confidence.
- To interactively include the family within the preschool.
Staff regularly attend training courses to keep themselves up to date with the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, and also adhere to government guidelines in order to achieve the best pre-school education for your child.
There are many opportunities for the family to be directly involved with the activities of the pre-school. Please see a member of staff for more information on this.
Rupert’s is a charity run group managed on a day to day basis by a committee of Parents and Staff. The committee is formed once a year at the Annual General Meeting, any parent can volunteer and it gives you a real chance to have a say in how the pre-school is run. The committee work to improve and update all our policies and procedures inline with the curriculum and law along with fundraising and offering support.
Parents are always encouraged to take part in sessions especially if you have an unusual hobby or job that the children might be interested in learning about.
Fund raising events are held periodically and it is these that pay for new equipment, toys, trikes etc.
Rupert’s is a member of the Pre School Learning Alliance, which is a national body that exists to provide information and advice and oversee any major government changes. We run to their constitution, a copy of which is available to read on request.
We are also registered with OFSTED and therefore have to follow certain guidelines laid down by them i.e. keeping the building and equipment up to standard and staff maintaining a high level of skills. As a setting we insure our staff are properly qualified and that safeguarding is paramount in our setting in our all areas.
